The Poetry Society of New York will once again inhabit the sunny park known as Colonel's Row on Governors Island this July. We are calling on the interactive artists of New York City to help us enrich the environs of this year’s festival with a series of site-specific installations and performances. Special consideration will be given to works that are poetry-inspired or “poetic,” but all applications will be considered. We want to be delighted by you. We love shiny things and shiny people. Help us make this year’s New York City Poetry Festival a feast for the mind and senses.

The Milk Press Gallery is also still accepting submission of visual art. The gallery seeks work that reflects the aesthetic of the press itself. Milk is fluid, nourishing, embodied; witchy, infantile, ejaculative; sexy, sacred, miraculous; generous, undiluted & essential. Milk Press Gallery encourages submissions of collaborative work but will also accept work by individual artists. Milk encourages submissions of work that engages with "poetry" but will accept work of any sort if we fall in love with it.

Submit your proposal by July 1st, 2018.

PLEASE NOTE: The New York City Poetry Festival is an outdoor event with limited access to electricity and no potable water. It takes place on Governors Island, a verdant landscape jam-packed with 100-year old trees and historical landmarks. Please plan on creating low-tech weather-proof works that are environmentally friendly and leave no trace. Unfortunately, we cannot offer artist grants at this time.
