The Poetry Society of New York is delighted to welcome back the Ring of Daisies Open Mic to this year’s festival. We believe in packing the festival with as much poetry as possible! If you’re new to the poetry world or just not reading as part of an organization at the festival, bring some poems along and perform inside a giant ring of daisies.
Part of the festival's mission is to bring together as many poets as possible to foster community and collaboration. We receive messages from poets every day asking how they might get a chance to read at the festival, and we always tell them:
a) if you are part of a poetry community already (a press, journal, magazine, writing group, reading series, online publication, MFA program, collective, workshop, etc.), apply to host a reading at the festival!
b) if you are just starting out or simply aren't part of poetry group yet, come to the festival, sign up to read at the open mic, meet poets, talk to artists, and find your community!
If you would like to start building that community leading up to the festival this year, please join our Meetup group, where you can share your work, offer feedback, start discussions, post calls, organize get-togethers, or anything else your hearts desire! And of course, please follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
To sign up to read at the Ring of Daisies Open Mic, stop by the Ring of Daisies table at the festival. The open mic will begin as soon as people start signing up in the morning! That means it will run from ~11am-3pm and 4pm-5:30pm each day, with an hour break for the festival's headliners!
