In just a dozen years, among its many contributions, the Hagedorn Foundation has worked to strengthen the voice of immigrants and help them organize; commissioned insightful studies of the positive impact of immigrants on Long Island and the negative effects of hate crimes directed against them; elevated awareness at state, national and local levels of the crucial role of early childhood education; helped train parents to be effective advocates for children; and significantly increased voter registration in communities of color.

After working as an admissions officer for Dartmouth, our founder realized how little students really understood about the admissions process and how many mistakes they made as a result. She began advising students 1:1 and was astounded when they all described the application process as a torture they felt they had to endure.

The premier multi-genre workshop for BIPOC Writers, VONA is a Home where writers of color come to hone their craft and be in community. VONA honors its writers' unique histories, traditions and aesthetics and provides a protected mentoring space for learning and fellowship. VONA fosters the development of personal and political writing and engages in the work of social justice as we build our global community of writers.
Scientists & Poets
Scientists and Poets is a micro press located in Brooklyn, NY. Our mission is to support creative writers whose talents have yet to be recognized. We are looking for work that explores the edges of the imagination, where we believe the wonders of science and art are likely to meet.
Casement Fund
The Casement Fund supports new directions in creative writing, especially in connection with the other arts. It is intended to provide grants to accredited institutions of higher learning for seminars supporting our purpose, and to other non-profit organizations to encourage private and public performances and publications.
Our activities include sponsoring programs for writing through The Writers’ Studio, Issue Project Room and the Poetry Brothel; programs for theater education through The Classical Theater of Harlem and The Tank; and programs for songwriting through the International Contemporary Ensemble and through our own Casement Recital series and Casement Triad Grants.
We have supported university programs in writing and music in New York, especially in connection with alumni groups, for Drew University, Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University and Oberlin College.

The New School Creative Writing Program
The New School has been a vital center for creative writing since 1927, when we offered the first academic creative writing workshop. Since then, we have continued to develop creative writing—in the classroom and in the world. To this day, our faculty and alumni include many of contemporary literature’s most acclaimed poets, novelists, and nonfiction writers.

Parch
In developing Parch™, we studied ancient beverages, rituals and botanical infusions across Mexico and the Southwestern US, drawing inspiration from traditional plant-based beverages enjoyed as alternatives to alcohol. Our distinctive adult beverages are inspired by the Sonoran Desert and the lush biodiversity it keeps. Each sip offers complex flavors from unique pairings of desert ingredients, based on the ethos that “what grows together, goes together."
Sixpoint Brewery
Sixpoint was founded in 2004 (we like to say it was born at the dawn of civilization, though that’s a story for another time…) in the neighborhood of Red Hook, BKLYN. It was essentially a cult brewery — draft-only, mysterious, cryptic…
In 2010 we released our canned creations, and have been tweaking, improving, and releasing new formulations ever since. Then in May of 2017, we took our biggest step forward to date, releasing all of our ales raw and unfiltered, and simultaneously incorporating new and incredible raw materials obtained over years of sourcing.
Our philosophy is demonstrated in our formulation. We don’t “reverse-engineer” beers to shoot at established guidelines, like, say, creating a brown ale. Instead, we visualize what a beer could be — how it could taste, smell, look, and feel — and then set out, through a blend of art and science, to create it. Our creativity is not shackled to style guidelines, because style simply has no guidelines. It’s Mad Science.
ZRS Wines
Zev Rovine Selections began in 2007 in New York, later expanding to California, with the aim of working closely with winemakers who farm organically and biodynamically & vinify with as little intervention as possible.
The wines in our portfolio come from across North America, France, Italy, Austria, Spain, and Japan. Made by people committed to sustainable agriculture and traditional methods that let the vineyard speak for itself.
We seek out wines that are transparent, expressive, and rooted in place, building long-term relationships with growers who share these values.
Our hope is to help bring these wines, and the stories behind them, closer to the people who drink them.
Johnson's Popcorn
The first Johnson’s Popcorn to open on the Ocean City boardwalk, opened their doors in 1940. Prior to the 1960’s there were other Johnson’s Popcorn locations in the Philadelphia/New Jersey surrounding areas. Over the years, Johnson’s Popcorn grew to 3 locations on the Ocean City, NJ boardwalk with a steady mail order business behind the scenes. Our 14th location opened in 1994. We also developed a new flavor during this time, our Peanut Crunch. In 2009, Bill Lombard left Johnson’s to work on his “bucket list”. Since 2009, we have added 2 more locations: a Gift Shop next to our 14th on the Wildwood Boardwalk. We have also added Chocolate Drizzle, Cheddar, & a Salty and Sandy (cheddar and caramel) Mix to our Menu. Johnson’s now provides party favors and custom tins and tubs in addition to the Original Design. While we use the exact same recipe that the original owners used since 1940, we blend nostalgia with modern business practice to provide our loyal customers with popcorn that we think IS. JUST. GREAT. St. location opened in 1989 and our 8th St. location in Ocean City and a full cooking location.
North Fork Potato Chips
In case you’re wondering why North Fork Potato Chips have such an authentic potato flavor, it’s no secret. We’re one of just a handful of potato farmers left who make their own chips. Plus, the north forks abundant sun, ocean precipitation, and great soil make for great flavor. We only use the very best chipping spuds. And, while some suggested cooking with cottonseed oil like the bigger chip makers do, Carol insisted on using only real sunflower oil. It costs more but nothing tasted quite as good or lets the flavor of the potato come through as much. Plus it’s as healthy as olive oil.
“Kettle Cooked” chips are cut twice as thick as regular potato chips (and sweet potato chips are even thicker). That means maximum crunch, minimal greasiness. Because our potatoes come right from our field and our barn, they’re fresher. We never add any preservatives. Ever. They’re all-natural, Kosher, and even “green” since we started using more environmental methods of farming.
